These are the current books in the Dragons of the World series.
#1 is Dragons Among Us
#2 is Dragons Among the Eagles
#3 is Dragons of the Ice
By the end of 2019, Desert Dragons Among the Stars will be in the process to join the above published group. Keep a watch for them.

Second from the right with the burgundy hair on the champagne colored softtail. That's me, Sable. This was a wonderful day's ride with friends to a great café about thirty miles up the road.
My unemployment has ended and I've cut back considerably on my job searching efforts. Why belabor the point? I was turned down for everything from a gas attendant at one of those convenience store/gas station combinations to positions I'd already done. The working world has taken stock of my abilities and deemed them unusable.
Yeah, we'll just see about that. I'll write all those books I wanted and market until everyone in the world knows the name C. L. Kraemer. Then, I'll point a finger at all those nincompoops who gave themselves the right to judge me and laugh. I don't have time for that foolishness.
In the meantime, I'll be trying to keep my part of the bargain by touching base here and all my other stop spots more often. Let's see what kind of trouble we can brew!

There are those days...
I'm nearing the end of my unemployment and panic is setting in. I've worked for more years than some people have occupied this earth and being told I'm "too old" in so many different ways is unsettling. What ever happened to revering the wisdom of the elders?
Out the window. I'm a survivor; I'll make it happen. Now for the good news.
I've finally been thoroughly kicked back into my writer's chair by my characters from Dragons Among the Ice. They've picked out the cover and given me the tools to finish the book. I don't think people actually realize just how long a novel can require to be written.
It is my personal goal to have the first draft done by Christmas as a gift to myself. I just hope I can do better with the next installment, Dragons Among the Sand, as well as the "other" books standing impatiently in line to be written.
How did I ever imagine this was going to be fun and not work?
Sable Angel
This is where I've been living for the past year. Hanging out in space because my life has been so fluid I couldn't plant roots.
So I've been 'laid off' from yet another government agency [who said those jobs were lifetime guarantees?] and will be jumping in the deep end of the unemployment pool. This is where the 'politically correct' issues will come into play. I'm very close to what is considered retirement age but having just purchased my first home, I don't have the monetary wherewithal to stay home. Let's see just how much lip service is given to not caring if someone is older.
With that having been said, I'm joining forces with the other Angels to offer editing services to authors in need. Those who may not wish to submit to Rogue Phoenix but still want the look and feel of professional editing will be able to engage the services at reasonable prices. Let's see where this bus takes us.
Testing limits
Yesterday was a testing of limits disguised as a poker run. My hubby rode the big red bike you see in the cover above. I rode my Heritage. This started out as great way to spend one of the few last weekends of summer together on our motorcycles. Now I'm a newbie; only been riding at the front for 2 years. All together I've been on motorcycles [as a passenger and, now driver], for longer than I care to admit. I've some rural road riding miles and highway miles under my belt.
When we arrived at the first stop to sign up, the pub was closed to have its roof redone. That should have been our first clue. Metaphorically speaking, it was all downhill from there. After 8 hours of riding roads in the middle of the countryside of Oregon, twisting, turning and being totally lost, we turned on to the main highway between Canada and Mexico, I-5, only to be caught in the traffic of homecoming football fans. What should have taken a little over forty minutes to ride, turned into over an hour and a half.
Just for the record, stop and go is murder on motorcycle engines, not to mention the riders.
The key here is we were feeling uncomfortable about two hours into the ride and should have listened to our inner voices. We paid for ignoring our common sense.
Today, the day after, we are sitting around and suffering from the aches and pains of our bad decisions. Next time... we'll listen.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I've been boarded up at the keep on the loch contemplating my next attack. Isn't this picture of Kilchurn Castle amazing?
I'm hoping to stay active this time on my blogs and website. I often wish there were eight days a week. Maybe I'd get more writing and marketing done...
I'm pushing to finish my 3rd Dragon book, Dragons Among the Ice, and a few others. I've got the bug and want to exploit it as much as I can. Hopefully, everyone will bear with me.

Couldn't resist. The most recent anthology, May Day Anthology, from the Angels is out and burning up the blog review circuit.
The faeries are rampaging through the valley trying to stay clear of the Night Elves and one mortal librarian has captured the attention of one individual Night Elf determined to change the reputation besmirched by the selfish Saun Family from the hill.
Defying the Odds follows the Librarian as she and Uther dodge threats from Gitty and her brother Morgan while they try to regain their magic.

Ranting and raving.....
I'm going to let loose for just a bit. With all the wonderful new technologies available to the average person these days, I find myself in a battle. The big question is -- how much time do I spend blogging, tweeting, facebooking, updating web sites and the like? If I spend all my time in the pursuit of marketing opportunities, when will I have time to write the books I need to market?
It's been driving me to distraction and pulling me from the stories I want to tell. How much marketing is enough and when do I get to just write?

It's getting so close to Christmas I can smell the yule logs burning in my neighbor's fireplace. The dragons are taking the holidays off and turning over the reins to the Fae Community. The Fae community outside Eugene, Oregon is facing another crisis involving the night elves. A kidnapping is set to take place and this time someone will die. With the help of the Merfae, a night elf will lose touch with the fae community and the real world. I'll keep you posted as things progress. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have spent an interesting six months learning a new skill. In February, I took a motorcycle riding course and flunked. Pretty much was told never to pilot a motorcycle. First, I was wounded and withdrew to nurse my wounds then I got mad--REALLY mad and decided I was going to learn this skill and be really good at it.
Well, four times of 'dropping' my bike, one accident that broke an arm, blacked an eye and bruised my legs from the knees to my toes and I've finally mastered the art of staying up on my Honda Shadow. I'm riding to work on my motorcycle and learning the hazards of being a motorcycle rider. But I've overcome a fear and for that I'm proud of myself.
Just proves no matter the age if you have a dream, go for it. Because life really is too short, stop sitting on the sidelines and jump into the fray with both feet.

For the next couple months, RoguePhoenixPress will be featuring the stories of our Valentine's Day Anthology and the St. Patrick's Day Anthology.
I picked up an idea started in a writing symposium for the Valentine's Anthology and, voila, the Faeries were born. The story in the Valentine Anthology follows the Fae folk as they try to adapt to the world of man.
The story in the St. Patrick's Day Anthology is actually the prequel story of how the Fae came to be in the valley outside of Eugene, Oregon.
I'll be introducing the main characters here and giving an insight into their lives. I hope you'll take the time to read along and get to know the Fae of the McKenzie.

Hello all,
I signed up for NaNoWriMo [National November Writing Month]but had to bail from the project as I had editing I'd committed to. Commitments first, fun later. Anyway, in the few days I was playing the numbers game of NaNoWriMo, I actually got up to four chapters into the latest Dragon book and have discovered my characters will be taking me on quite a journey. I'm really looking forward to getting them to tell me the story.
I'm off to help my second granddaughter celebrate her 14th birthday. Jiminy! They grow so fast...

Whew! My wings are draggin! I've had four book signings in two months and been blogging on about the same amount of blogs. Throw in an interview for a TV Cable show and you can see why I'm feeling a mite tired. For some this might be child's play, but Sable Angel is the main breadwinner in her family and works a full forty hours a week on top of marketing and trying to write the next book. Think I'm going to take a little break and cool my jets.
Soak your wings in the hot springs!

Shattered Tommorrows has come screaming out of the gate. I'm blown away with the response. I worked and set up an interview with the local neighborhood paper which came out on the second Wednesday of the month. To my surprise, the article was featured in the main paper the following day on the Mid Valley page.
There I was, in living color, on the front page. Talk about dancing on chubby toes! I've now set up one book signing and am working on getting several others nailed down.
If only marketing were as easy as writing...

So much has happened since I last posted... Dragons Among the Eagles has been released and I'm pleased with the response. Many have asked about the Print On Demand copy and how to get them. Go to RoguePhoenixPress.com and buy them!
[I love simple solutions!]
Now some breaking news--my novelette Shattered Tomorrows has been moved up by two months! Yeah! The new release date is August 1, 2011. The story is loosely based on the mass shooting that occurred in Salem, Oregon on May 7, 1981 at the Oregon Museum Tavern. Four people were killed and nineteen wounded. The event changed the lives of an entire generation.

Time is drawing closer to the release date for Dragons Among the Eagles. I have to share a story with you... a friend and fellow motorcycle enthusiast bought the first book,Dragons Among Us, for his wife. Well, she got so involved in reading the book she rebuffed his nuzzling until she'd finished the tale. He told me I wasn't allowed to talk to her especially to let her know about the next book!
You got to love fans. That's one of the reasons I write my stories. The other is I can't NOT write. I've relaxed enough and will be starting on the the third book in the Dragon series, Dragons Among the Ice.
Warming my feathers in the fleeting sun breaks.

Whohoo!!!! Did you see this? Thank you, L. Nickels! This is the reason I sit on my ever expanding posterior and write till the feathers fall off my wings. Yes, I'll write regardless but it really is nice to know there are those out there who enjoy my ministrations. Doing loop-de-loops over my keyboard.

Review: Dragons Among the Eagles
Dragons Among the Eagles
Dragons Among Us opened a door to the possibility of secret societies, creatures of legend and a whole world unseen by the human population. The Dragons story continues when Cyre and Aleda return to Portland from the Dragon Council in China. For Aleda, returning to life as usual is not an option. With all of the turns and twists she has recently experienced “normal” is out the window. Her newly discovered dragon senses and the ever present reporters’ curiosity will keep her on the move discovering just how close to home the Shifter troubles really are. As she realizes how hard it is to keep her secret life separate from the human world she will have to depend on old friends to help her mesh the two worlds safely. Dragons Among the Eagles is an excellent sequel that will hold your attention until the very end and leave you craving more. Well done Ms. Kraemer for delivering yet another awesome book!
Worthy of a 5 Angel Eyes rating

Hello all,
Sable coming out from hiding. I've had a couple weeks where I thought I'd lost my muse but I discovered she was just on vacation. How wonderful for her! I can't take one! I decided to put up my book covers here so you can see I haven't completely been sitting on my wings.
As you can see below, the two dragon covers are very similar. I'm absolutely in love with my graphic artist [Amber Angel] and have come to the conclusion I'll try to incorporate as much of the original cover of the base book, Dragons Among Us, in each of the subsequent novels. I don't think I could find a better look than she created and carried over to Dragons Among the Eagles.
I'll go backwards with my catalogue. Recently released was A St. Patrick's Day Tale in conjunction with Allana Angel and Amber Angel. Maybe Allana Angel can help by inserting the book cover here. You can find it up on the RoguePhoenixPress site, too.
Last year I contributed to two anthologies, A Valentine Day Anthology with The Lending Library, and A Different Kind of Valentine anthology with The Prize.
My first contribution to RPP was a mystery titled Healthy Homicide. A quick read about the reality of politics whether in government or a day spa.
Well, now that my muse has decided to start working again I'll be sitting down to complete the romantic suspense Shattered Tomorrows. I'll also be working on a book which includes a passion of mine, riding motorcycles, titled Joker's Wild.
Once I have those two completed, I'll be jumping back into the dragon series with Dragons Among the Ice. I hope you'll all stay tuned.
Sable Angel, who's drying her wings in the sun.

Sable's Special Day
Today I reached a milestone birthday and my wings didn't fall off. If you would have asked me a couple decades ago about this birthday, I wouldn't have been so sure.
Am I wiser? Somewhat. I still struggle with the idea it's okay to consider myself first; I guess upbringing is hard to shake. I've recently experienced a shakeup with my writing and am reconsidering whether I have the chops to continue. [If you couldn't tell I still have confidence issues!]
Oh, well, I've great people around me and a family I wouldn't trade for gold. For the most part, this is a good birthday.
Keep your wings out of the dirt.

Sable's Bio
C. L. Kraemer has been a gypsy all her life. From her military child beginnings to her might-not-get-this-chance-again attitude after she left home, she's seen most of the continental United States as well as Hawaii and Alaska. She hopes to travel the world but is content to stay close to her family in the great Northwest.
She has written several romance novels under the pen name of Celia Cooper but continues to pursue fantasy, mystery and sci-fi novels as C.L. Kraemer. Currently, she is busy on a Dragon series having finished Dragons Among Us and Dragons Among the Eagles to date.
At this point, another dozen dragon books are expected. For lighter fare, she writes the stories included in the anthology series by RoguePhoenixPress.com.

Just a quick note to let you know I'm alive!!!!
I finished my second dragon book and sent it off to the publisher with fingers crossed. I can only hope it doesn't come back too badly marked up.
This week I'm taking the time to update websites and blogs which are in desperate need of getting current. It is the one bane of all writers' existences that we have to be the maintainers, marketers and agents for our own work. Considering how many of the big publishers are declaring bankruptcy and going under, maybe it's good we learned these skills. Now if we can only get readers to realize, they can buy three times the books and put them in 1/1000th the space on e-readers. One step at a time.
I'll be heading out to dive into other manuscripts. Think good thoughts for me.
Winging madly,
Sable Angel

Whew! Things have been crazy in Sable Angel land. My father flew up to visit for a week. Gosh I miss him! He's a WWII, Korean conflict, Guantanamo Bay, Vietnam Veteran Marine and at 82 still wears the uniform well. I love listening to him tell stories of his time in the service. After nearly 35 years and my mother's death, he's finally talking about the things that occurred while he was stationed in Vietnam. Enlightening to say the least.
I've also been battling vertigo. For the unknowing, vertigo is similar to a long night of drinking without the alcohol OR getting on a carnival ride that turns one upside down, sideways and every which way but loose. Needless to say, I'm now a dizzy greyette. [The bru part in brunette is disappearing at a rapid pace.]
All of this has added to the delay of my writing. I'll have my completed story to my publisher for the second Dragon book, Dragons Among the Eagles, then I have two other books to finish, Shattered Tomorrows and Joker's Wild, before taking up the story on the third book in the dragon series, Dragons Among the Ice.
I'd love to have the luxury of staying home to write while my bills were getting paid by my fabulous book sales, however, the reality is I'm the main breadwinner and need to trudge to the office 40 hours each week. Yet, hope springs eternal.
I'll sign off for now but know I'll be at the keyboard taking long flights of fancy.
Remember to let your wings dry before flying.

Let's see if I can do this correctly...
I finished my month of trying to write a novel of 50,000 words and fell short. Such is the way of writing. However, it did inspire the Dragons Among The Eagles novel to be more than mouth service. I now have to put the final rough draft chapters to the page and start the fine tuning process of editing. While not my favorite part of writing, I'm not ignorant or egotistical enough to believe what I originally write is gospel on the first try. If I'm able to make the story flow, give the characters life and keep the reader involved, I'll be happy.
The second effort of an idea is always the more difficult. My second book--ever--was easier as I had the idea in mind what to do before I started writing. But ask any musician or actor about their second piece of work; was it a success? Nine out of ten times the answer is no. I can only hope the second of my dragon series will make the readers want to read the third and so on.
Think good thoughts for me.

Hello all,
Sable Angel here. Thanks for dropping by my page. I hope you'll enjoy the tidbits and silliness we Angels put on our posts. We're trying very hard to provide you, the reader, with entertainment to lighten your daily load.
Each Angel has such distinct styles I'm sure you'll be able to find something enjoyable to read.
My forte seems to be fantasy, science fiction and mystery. At one point in my life, I wrote contemporary romance but found my love of legends, science fiction and whodunits won out over romance.
I've written about murder in Healthy Homicide; faeries in the Valentine Anthology story The Lending Library as well as the upcoming St. Patty's day anthology in a story titled Meadows of Gold; and I've started a Dragon Series, the first book released August 2010 called Dragons Among Us.
I'm currently working on the second book in the Dragons Among series as well as completing a mass shooting book loosely based on a real event that happened in Salem, Oregon, in May 1981.
Come along on my journey. I'll share bits and pieces with you and we'll both enjoy the ride.
Keep your feathers dry!
Sable Angel

Greetings!
I'm putting off writing for a moment trying to get the juices flowing so I thought I'd post a little teaser here from Dragons Among Us and... maybe a scrap from Dragons Among the Eagles.
Just keep in mind the post from Dragons Among the Eagles is VERY rough.
DRAGONS AMONG US by C.L. Kraemer
DJakarta, Indonesia
Vasuki Dalal peered from behind the bush. The street appeared empty. He had heard the mosque’s call to prayer and hoped all his neighbors had dutifully responded, but one could not be sure. He grasped the cardboard box he had found in an alleyway to his unclothed form.
Darting across the road, the clicking sound that had been plaguing him since he found himself out of his vehicle and running in the back roads downtown, taunted him. He couldn’t remember what happened to him and, while he felt unclothed, he didn’t feel naked. It was difficult to explain. He would sort it all out once he was in the safety of his own home.
Wherever he had left his clothing, he had also left his house keys forcing him to find the key hidden under the mat. Slipping stealthily to the back door, he reached down and picked up the mat. He gasped at the scaled arm and taloned foot that reached for the key.
Snapping upright, he turned around to search for the creature who’d been following him. Glimpses of the animal in the windows of buildings he had passed fed his feeling of urgency to pick up his pace. His passion for running has served him well today in helping him escape the menace stalking him.
He unlocked the door. The cardboard fell to the floor as he made his way toward his bathroom and the shower, which would cleanse him from this bad dream. He entered the bathroom and reached into the shower stall, turning on the water. As he passed the mirror over the bathroom sink, he threw a glance at the reflection to inspect his appearance.
Vasuki froze. Staring back at him was the scaled snout of a Komodo dragon. The eyes closed when he closed his eyes and, when he stuck out his tongue, the creature in the mirror flicked out its forked abomination. He looked at the hands and realized the talons he’d seen earlier were at the ends of his own arms. The clicking sound that had kept him on a run were the nails upon his own feet. The last memory Vasuki had before the blackness engulfed him was the yellow, slit eyes rolling toward the heavens.
Here is a quick preview of the coming Dragons Among the Eagles:
Cinder, short for Cinderella, Simmons paced the floor.
“Come on, come on! Answer your phone!”
She threw her cell phone across the room to the divan.
“Ahhh! She’s been home for two days and she hasn’t called me. Something is wrong!”
Throwing common sense to the wind, she got in her car and drove through early morning Portland traffic to her friend, Aleda Sable’s, house. It wasn’t like Aleda not to call the minute she got home from a vacation and fill Cinder in on all the happenings. Cinder was dying to know if Aleda had finally met a man.
She pulled into Aleda’s driveway and hopped out of her car. Running up the steps, she got to the front door and tried the handle. It was locked.
Cinder frowned. “Mistake, girlfriend. I know where you hide the key.”
She skipped down the steps and made her way to the side of the house counting the stones lining the flowerbed until she’d gotten the right number. Lifting up the rock, she was shocked to find the spare key missing.
Running back to the front door, Cinder began to pound on the door and yell. About the time she was pulling out her cell phone to call the police, the door opened an inch.
“What the heck is going on here?” Aleda’s hair stood in fifteen different directions, her eyes were half shut and she looked very unhappy.
“Oh, thank goodness! I was worried something had happened.” Cinder pushed her way past Aleda and flopped on the couch. “Do you know the key is missing from the rock?”
“Yes. I brought it inside so I could get some rest.”
“Oh?” Cinder sat forward on the seat. “Spill.”
Aleda closed the door. “Not until I’ve brushed my teeth, washed my face and made some coffee. I can’t function without coffee.”
Cinder huffed a breath through her lips. “Make it snappy girlfriend. You’ve got a lot of sharing to do.”
Aleda shook her head. Her best friend, Cinder, was almost as tenacious as Warren her boss. How did she get these people in her life? Completing her bathroom routine, she changed into jeans and an Oxford-styled, button down, long sleeve shirt. Brown slip ons kept her feet from being too cold. Aleda went to the kitchen to create the fluid that would give her life—coffee, expresso, to be exact.
When both girls had settled in and sat cradling their cups, Aleda looked at her friend.
“Why in the heck are you here? Shouldn’t you be working?”
“Oh, puleese! How do you think I could possibly work after you’ve just come home from 10 days away? I want details, girlfriend, juicy-don’t-miss-a-single-thing details. Did you meet a man? Is he handsome? When do I get to meet him? Give.”
A small smile touched the corner of Aleda’s mouth. She could truthfully tell her best friend she’d not met a man.
“Sorry, Cinder, no man.”
“I don’t believe you.” The young café colored woman narrowed blue eyes at Aleda. “I think you met someone and you’re trying to hide him from me.”
If you only knew how true your statement was, you’d have a coronary.
Aleda sipped the bitter nectar from her cup. “Why would I lie to you? You’ll just hound me until I tell you every detail of my trip making life miserable should I decide to keep any small smidgen of the story to myself.”
A smug expression stole over Cinder’s face. “You know me well.”
“Yeah, since grade school, Miss Thing. You’ll just have to trust my word I didn’t meet a man. I was clear up in some forsaken valley in who-knows-where-North-China because Warren had gotten a tip there were dragons sighted.”
Cinder dropped her feet to the floor. “Dragons! Has he absolutely lost his mind this time?”
Aleda shrugged her shoulders. “Heck, he paid for the trip. I got to see part of the world where very few people have traveled.”
“Well, duh! It’s the middle of nowhere, Aleda. Why can’t he send you to Hawaii to investigate the goddess Pele or the Caribbean to check out zombies? Why Northern China?”
She shivered all over. Heading in to the kitchen, she tossed over her shoulder to Aleda. “More expresso?”
“Yeah. I have to put my notes together and come up with some sort of story to send in to Warren.”
Cinder emerged from the kitchen with the small coffee container in her hand and a mischievous grin covering her face.
“I have the most delicious idea.”
Aleda held her cup still as Cinder filled it with black liquid inspiration.
“I’m afraid to ask.”
“Let me help you write your story.” Cinder’s blue eyes twinkled wickedly.
Aleda rolled her eyes.
“This could get me in deep trouble.”
“Or you could win a Pulitzer. Who knows?”
“Who knows indeed.”
