"It's almost as if you're inviting me to play the married couple. Is that what you are doing?"
"Not if I'm sleeping on the floor." He straightened suddenly and walked to the railing. He stared at the water then said. "Okay, you stay here. I sleep wherever you want me. And you have to follow my rules. Otherwise I'll be terrified for you at every little creak and groan."
"Agreed. And if you want, you will sleep in my bed. I don't want you on the floor. So
what are the rules?" she asked slanting him what he thought was a triumphant smile.
"You will stay in your apartment except when we go to work. And we will drive together." He waited for her protest.
"Okay, that's not so hard."
"You don't walk to the beach unless I'm with you. You don't fetch the mail or do anything by yourself."
"Jace--"
"Anything at all, alright?"
"I don't see any other way."
"You sure you want me in your bed?"
