Winter Days

The snow from last weekend has long since gone, however, I thought I'd share a couple of pictures from our walks. We stayed pretty close to home enjoying the wood stove and the fact we didn't lose power.

When we have bad weather I often think of Laura Ingalls Wilder's description of winter and the hardships they endured in The Long Winter. If you haven't read them in a long time her series are great stories to share with children.

When I was in college one of my classes was a Children's Literature class. I rediscovered some of my favorite stories. What was your favorite childhood story?

The book I'm featuring this week is The Look of Love. Scott Denton always thinks of Penny Herrington as his best friend, a co-worker in the Forest Ridge Fire Department. She tricks him into helping her with the decorations for the Sweetheart Banquet. During their discussion about love and romance, Scott starts to notice Penny as a desirable woman.
