INTERVIEW:

Do you ever wish you were someone else? Who?

I’ve always dreamed to be some spectacular success on the stage – in either ballet or opera – but I can’t sing to save my life, and my dancing career didn’t ever leap off the ground.

What did you do on your last birthday?

We were on holiday and I spent the day with my husband and kids on the beach, then sat with my mom next to the resort pool – together we won a bottle of wine participating in the resort’s daily quiz (how cool is that for a birthday treat!) – and ended up having dinner with family and friends.  

What part of the writing process do you dread?

Every part has its own slippery slopes but getting stuck and knowing something is wrong, and then backtracking and fixing it must be the most dreaded part for me.

Do you ever suffer from writer’s block? If so, what do you do about it?

I find that writer’s block is a symptom of a bigger issue. Something isn’t working, you don’t know what it is, you don’t know how to proceed and you’re about as stuck as a 4x4 in deep sand. Taking some distance from writing (getting out of the car and walking around just to see how bad things are), then analyzing the situation and figuring out how to get out of the sticky situation always helps.

Tell us about your latest release.

Perfect Mistake is the first book in a series of three standalone books, about three Italian siblings and their journey to love. I lived in East Africa for a few years and this series was party inspired by my time there. Perfect Mistake is a contemporary second chance romance, with a secret baby in the mix. It was a fun write!

EXCERPT:

Carlo pushed away from the doorframe, took a few steps towards them and stuck out his hand. A sharp pinch from Michael snapped her out of her flustered state, and she offered hers. Carlo’s hand was cool and dry, sending a tremor through her as he wrapped it around hers. 

“Simone.”

“Mr…Carlevaro.” She cleared her throat as he let go. She couldn’t help but rub her sweaty palm against her jeans. Touching his cool skin had felt like a disgrace. 

“I’m glad you’ve finally arrived.” Carlo’s gaze traveled over her face. It rested on her lips for a moment before it shot back to her eyes. “I want to take off in the next thirty minutes.” 

Simone’s heart, which had, for those treacherous few seconds, stood still, started to pound.

“I just landed from a long-haul flight. I’d like to take a quick shower.”

Carlo raised an eyebrow. “A quick shower?” His gaze traveled over her body, mapping the route the water would take. 

God, he remembered.

Heat rushed to her cheeks at the potent memories that flooded in her mind. Years ago they had shared many showers that were everything but quick.
