I have another interview. Yippee. Can you see just how excited I am? I will buff and puff, paint my face, paste on a smile, and pretend I don't already know what the outcome will be.
I am required by signed acknowledgement to look for work to receive the benefits I do from the unemployment office. Now, I have NO problem applying for and interviewing for positions throughout my city.
What I have a problem with is going to these farces with the full knowledge I won't be chosen because, 1) the employer already has someone in mind for the job, but is required by EEO regs to open the position for ALL qualified candidates; and 2) hearing the upbeat voice of the interviewer telling me, or emailing me, how terrific it was to meet and learn about me BUT, someone else has been chosen, and, please, continue to apply for other openings.
That would seem to be a lovely way to say 'thanks but no thanks', don't you think?
I do believe I was once given a very good example for the proof of insanity: Doing the same thing over and over with the same result, yet expecting it to change.
