POSTED BY: AMBER ANGEL
I've never written a priest as a hero nor a prostitute as a heroine before LEGACY OF ANGELS. Probably neither would have been my choices if the parameters of my LEGACY series hadn't already been set up. Each of the O'Shea siblings would have their own story and find their life partner.
Since Patrick was one of the siblings, he would have his story and find a love to share his life. Then came the challenges. Patrick was a priest in a church that required celibacy and didn't allow priests to marry. That meant he would need to leave the priesthood. But why would a man of integrity as Patrick was leave a calling that was so much a part of him? As the answers to these questions unfolded, so did Patrick's story.
Then came the question of finding a life-time partner for him. I like to pick partners who seem opposites in many ways, as that sets up many conflicts and keeps the story lively and interesting. On the surface, a priest and a prostitute seem to be quite opposite. However, as the stereotypes are peeled away and their souls are revealed, Patrick and Claudia are alike in some fundamental ways, and can help each other heal from the major traumas they have experienced.
As this story unfolded, it became a gentle and touching love story of a woman who finds her courage and a man who discovers he can realize his own desires and still help others.
I hope others find as much enjoyment reading this story as I did writing it!
