PICTURE PERFECT...SERIES?

PICTURE PERFECT LEGACY
Book #1 of the Halo Legacy Series
Heartwarming romances with a shadow of mystery
by Genie Gabriel

When I drafted PICTURE PERFECT LEGACY, I was still relatively new to writing. And I naively thought this would be a single, stand-alone book. I can hear other writers with a few books in their computers laughing.

As I wrote this story, it wasn't so much the seven brothers demanding their own stories as the only sister, Marly, wanting them to find their own loves and quit meddling in her life.

AND, since their mother is so involved in the lives of her children--in a good way--she needed her own story also.

There are currently nine Halo Legacy Series books contracted, and other Halo citizens are muttering they want their own stories too. LOL! I've decided to stay firmly neutral on that topic.

I really enjoy writing a series of books, though this series offered a number of challenges because some of the events overlap. I needed to put enough information in each book for new readers who hadn't read previous books to understand what was going. However, I didn't want to do an "info dump" and bore everyone.

Also, I didn't want cliff-hanger endings. I wanted each story to have a happily-ever-after for the romantic couple starring in the book and I wanted a villain brought to justice.

So these books came out shorter than a lot of stories--at about 35,000 words--and rather like installments of a television series where you also catch up with what's happening in the lives of other characters in the series.

I'm pleased that ebooks allow for books of different lengths, so stories aren't "padded" with information that's not vital to the story or edited so heavily readers feel like pieces are missing. I'm also looking forward to new technology that will allow writers to share their stories with graphics, video, sound, and who knows what other wondrous options to dive into the lives of our characters!

In the meantime, I hope you enjoy the written words of PICTURE PERFECT LEGACY and all my Halo Legacy Series books!

  1. Genie,
Hi. I know what you mean about the characters asking for their own stories. They get a little demanding at times.
Good luck with your Halo Series.

  2. LOL about secondary characters, Rosemary! But we never run out of ideas that way. :)
