What if Wednesday
What if the world was filled with only happiness?
What if there was no war?
What if your life was all work and no play?
or the other way around. What if your life was all play and no work?
What if you lived where there was no sun?
What if you could never say no?
Lets take this one step farther. Could we begin a book with a what if premise? Could this what if premise be the focal point of the major and minor conflicts as well as the black moment?
Could the what if premise support the setting?
I think I would like to explore this a bit more but I don't have the time at the moment.
What is your what if...?

All my stories begin with "What if?" In fact--I have a whole Dragon series started with the question: What if there were Dragons at Mt. St. Helen's brought to life by the eruption? What if a reporter from a local Portland paper took a vacation and stumbled on these dragons and discovered she wasn't the person she thought?
ReplyDeleteMakes for an interesting premise. The "what if" question opens new worlds.

I agree with both Allana and Sable--"what if" has been the trigger for pretty much all of my stories. And if I get stuck, I got back to that "what if" question and brainstorm possibilities. Brings wonderful ideas!
ReplyDeleteMy "what if": think a little white dog and a time machine...
