Cliffhanger

He flopped down on the couch and
turned on the television. The muscles in the back of his neck tightened and he
could feel his frustration pound in his temples. Kevin Mathews had gotten away
from him again. The man must have more lives than a cat. He propped his feet up
on the coffee table and leaned back.
Tilting
his beer can back, he drank a long swig then set the can on the coffee table.
Reaching for the remote, he knocked over the beer. The amber liquid poured down
his leg, soaking through his pants to his skin, infuriating him even further.
The
scene changed on the television screen catching his attention. He clicked the
volume control up. Sitting up he swung his feet to the floor.
“Forest
Ridge battled an intense three alarm apartment fire today. One firefighter
received minor injuries and was treated at the scene.
As the
idea ignited in his mind, a slow smile formed on his lips. Firefighters were
injured or killed at fires all the time. As the fire danced across his
television screen he knew how he’d finally take care of Mathews once and for
all.
